• Art Club

    Grade Levels:  4th & 5th grade

    Meeting Day/Time/Location: Wednesday mornings at 7:45 in the Art Room

    Description:  The mission of the Duncan Creek art club is to offer fifth grade students an opportunity to collaborate with others within their grade level to participate in enrichment activities that go beyond what is offered during their regular art time. Students will submit a portfolio of their personal artwork when auditioning for art club. Planned art projects may include collage, clay, drawing, painting and mixed media. Students participate in “Art in the Dark” which is a collaborative painting session with Mill Creek High School National Art Honor Society students. Mrs. Silver is affiliated with the National Art Education Association and the Georgia Art Education Association.

  • Kindness Squad

    Grade levels:  2nd - 5th grade - one representative per class

    Meeting Day:  Meets every Friday morning September - November and January - April

    Time:  7:45-8:20 am

    Location:  Media Center

    Club Description:

    The Kindness Squad is for students in 2nd - 5th grades who demonstrate leadership skills in the areas of kindness and respect.  Members will be selected based on student applications and teacher recommendations.  One representative per class will be chosen to be a Kindness Ambassador.  Students who participate in the Kindness Squad will have an opportunity to plan and lead our student body in acts of kindness both within our school and our community.

  • Computer Science Club

    Grade Levels:  2nd through 5th Grades

    Meeting Day/Time/Location:  Specified Wednesday mornings at 7:45 in the Media Center or the STEM room. Specific dates are listed on the application and the school calendar.

    Description:  The computer science club is a DCES club designed for 2nd-5th grade students who enjoy coding and working with technology. Space is limited. Members will be selected based on application review and teacher recommendation. All members must have and maintain an E or S in conduct for all classes.

  • Duncan Creek Singing Hawks

    Grade Levels:  4th and 5th Grade

    Description:  The Duncan Creek Cardinal Choir is our school's elite performing organization and is comprised of approximately ninety of our school's strongest fourth and fifth grade vocalists. Membership in the Chorus is determined through an audition process that evaluates each student's ability to sing with a characteristic tone quality and successfully match pitch. Participation in the Chorus allows students to create music on a higher level by concentrating more critically on tone quality, intonation, rhythmic clarity, and other elements of music.

  • Running Club

    Description:  Running club is a great opportunity for students to become better runners, gain strength and confidence and learn how to set and achieve goals.

  • First Lego League Team

    Grade Levels: 4th and 5th Grade

    Meeting Day/Time/Location:

    Required: Wednesday mornings, as listed on the team schedule, from 7:45-8:20 a.m. during the FLL season.

    Description:

    FIRST Lego League is a team comprised of 2-10 students who are interested in research and STEM learning. During the required practices students will research, prepare and practice a presentation, build and code, and utilize STEM skills. Due to program requirements, this team is ONLY open to 4th and 5th grade students. Fourth and fifth grade students may request an application from Dr. Clark (specials teacher) between August 7-August 17, with a due date of August 18, 2022.

  • Student Council

    Grade Levels: 4th and 5th Grade

    Meeting Day/Time/Location: Monthly on a Friday at 7:45 am; dates will be on the student calendar

    Description: The purpose of Student Council is to provide leadership training and service opportunities in our school and community. Each 4th and 5th grade class will vote on one student to represent his/ her class for Student Council. We typically meet once a month before school (Tuesdays at 7:45) to discuss upcoming projects and events. Our meetings are mandatory, so students serving on Student Council cannot participate in other clubs or activities that meet on Tuesday mornings. Student Council representatives are leaders in our school and are actively involved in service projects and other activities that benefit our school and community. Each representative must exhibit excellent behavior in the classroom (an “S” in conduct and work habits) throughout the school year. Students running for Student Council are required to obtain parental permission. They are also asked to write and give a brief speech to their class, explaining why they would like to serve on the Student Council.

    Description: The Tumbling Team promotes physical fitness and allows the students to perform for others around our community as well as show off their wonderful talent.
