Welcome, Tyese Scott, new principal of Creekland MS

June 6, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians at Creekland Middle School.

As the newly appointed Principal of Creekland Middle School, it is an honor to continue as a member of the Eagle Community. I am excited to begin our journey together upon Dr. Gillett’s retirement. Over the next few weeks, I will have the opportunity to meet and interact with parents, faculty, and students to learn more about the Creekland Middle School Community. In speaking with Dr. Gillett, I have come to understand the value our community places on building a collegial partnership among all stakeholders to provide the best possible academic experience for our students. I look forward to fostering these relationships and working with the faculty to provide a world-class educational experience for each and every child.

Prior to joining Creekland, I have served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles over the past 29 years. For the last eight years, I have served as the principal of McKendree Elementary in the Collins Hill cluster. My academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

In our fast-paced world, there is nothing more valuable than family. As the parent of two young men, ages 22 and 18, I recognize the importance of a strong middle school experience in shaping the future for our students. Communicating with you to build strong home-school connections is vital in supporting the unique needs of middle school students. I believe that by working together, we can ensure your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met.

Thank you for the opportunity to continue serving the Collins Hill Community in this new role. I look forward to meeting you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.
