• Coding

At Baggett, we understand that knowledge of computer science (CS) is fundamental to students’ future lives and careers. By actively engaging students in computer science in our homeroom classes and Discovery classes, students develop skills related to creativity.  This goes beyond simply learning typing skills, but also learning how to engage in the online world responsibly, ethically and respectfully. Students also learn how to use technology to solve problems or connect with other problem solvers around the world to communicate and exchange information. Discovery classes such as Computer Science and STEAM provide extra opportunities for students to learn coding languages to develop create presentations and interactive projects. Such computer science activities inspire students to innovate in order to tackle the world’s challenges and helps ensure that students have the skills needed to thrive today and tomorrow.

    Robotics

Providing hands-on robotics learning experiences both in and outside the classroom is a critical component of computer science (CS) for All in Gwinnett. At Baggett, Discovery classes such as STEAM and Computer Science give students opportunities to build and program robots. With these experience, students learn about coding and engineering design, but they also practice skills such as creativity, problem-solving, time management and error analysis. Robotics also gives students the opportunity to analyze world problems and imagine how technology can be used to solve them.  Baggett Elementary hosts a First Lego League Robotics team which inspires 4th and 5th graders to build, code and run a robot, as well as engage in a creative project.
