Interested in helping people lead healthier lives through a balanced diet? The nutrition and food sciences pathway is for students who wish to design food and nutrition programs, supervise the preparation and serving of meals, and prevent and treat illnesses by promoting healthy eating habits and recommending dietary modifications. The pathway addresses the variation in nutritional needs at the different stages of human development: lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood including old age. Students will evaluate the effects of processing, preparation, and storage on the quality, safety, wholesomeness, and nutritive value of foods.
